The Mohinders Leather Shopper is just like our shoes: it adheres to the Mohinders design ethos of creating beautiful, timeless goods that are durable, can be used everyday, go with almost everything and get better with wear & age. It also adheres to our ethical ethos of creating goods produced by fairly-compensated artisans with more sustainable material. We wanted to make a big bag because, if you're like us, we haul lots of stuff in our personal lives (groceries, trips, kiddos' things, doggos' things, etc.) and in our Moh lives (shows + markets). We wanted to make a bag that can do a lot and can be used a lot.
Each Leather Shopper is made of chrome-free, vegetable tanned leather and sourced from a Leather Working Group gold-rated tannery. The artisans crafting this bag are part of a small producer group overseen by a World Fair Trade Organization social enterprise.
Nearly 7 years ago, our Founder + OG Mohinders Peddler, Michael, stumbled upon a social enterprise organization supporting artisan producer groups in the Kolkata area called SASHA.
One of the groups they worked with made some of the very first canvas shoe bags for Mohinders and painted on our original turquoise and red stripes! We’ve always wanted to do more with SASHA as we were impressed by their integrity and passion for promoting beautiful artisan-made goods.
When Michael learned that one of their producer groups were experts in leather bag making, weaving leather, and a new-to-us technique of embossing and hand-painting leather, we had to find a way to work together.
And so, The Mohinders Leather Shopper was born.

Care Tips
Similar to our shoes, we recommend cleaning your Leather Shopper with a soft brush or cloth and air drying. To keep the leather in good condition, we like Chamberlain's Leather Milk because it's natural and doesn't darken the leather.

Is The Leather Shopper made with the same leather as Mohinders Slides + Shoes?
The Mohinders Leather Shopper is not made out of the same bag-tanned, water buffalo leather as our Slides & Shoes.
It's quite difficult to make bags out of the leather we use for our shoes. The artisans we're working with to produce The Shoppers are more familiar with and more comfortable working with goat leather, which is sourced from a Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold Certified tannery in Uttar Pradesh.
Can I use The Leather Shopper as a Carry-On?
Absolutely! It really can carry everything. It's perfect for travel, from a quick weekender trip to global excursion.
Can I request expedited shipping?
